Experiences like this led Blofeld to believe in reincarnation, and that he had been a Buddhist in China in a previous life.〔Blofeld 2008, pp. 5-7〕 He was educated at Haileybury College, then Downing College, Cambridge University where he read natural sciences but did not complete his degree.
